Frank F. Pirani
1916-2010

West Springfield – Frank F. Pirani, a lifelong resident of West Springfield passed away peacefully on November 9, 2010 at the Heritage Hall West Nursing Home in Agawam. Frank was the son of Beringerio Pirani, and Emma (Astrology) Pirani who passed away just after his birth. He was blessed with a wonderful stepmother Elvimila (Barafauldi) Pirani. He was the youngest of four brothers, Lawrence, William, and his stepbrother Daniel Barafauldi, who have all passed on before him. He was a life long member of St. Ann's Church in West Springfield and served in the US Navy in the Pacific during World War II. Most of his working life he held two jobs, one as a greens keeper at the Springfield Country Club, and for almost 40 years was a bus driver for the Springfield Street Railway. Frank married Blanche Ruby (Martin) in 1940, and had three children, a daughter Frances (Pirani) Lunny, a son Martin (Marty) Pirani, and William (Bill) Pirani. He was predeceased by his wife Ruby and he carried great sadness outliving his two sons, Martin and William. He is survived by his daughter Frances, his grandchildren, Lisa Wiedersheim, and Lauren Brennan of Hopkinton, and his great grandchildren Collin, Martin and Alfred Wiedersheim, and Katherine and Heather Whitney. Frank's greatest love was his family, but he and his wife Ruby both loved camping. Eventually graduating to a large travel trailer, spending many good years camping on the shore at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Frank didn't consider his day complete until he had finished reading his newspaper from cover to cover, loving sports and politics both local and national. The calling hour will be Friday at West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home from 9:30-10:30 am. The funeral Mass will be Friday at 11 am in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church at 11 am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.
