Frederick J. Lyman of Amesbury, MA, formerly of West Springfield, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on March 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Fred was born in Perris, CA, to Howard and Evelyn (Myers) Lyman. He graduated from Turners Falls High School, Monson Academy, Fitchburg State College, and Westfield State College. He was a teacher for over 30 years in Conway, MA and West Springfield, MA. The most important thing in the world to Fred was his family. He had a perfect life with his perfect Bitsy.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Barbara (Whalen) Lyman; his loving children Patrick W. Lyman, Catherine (Lawrence) Lingley, John (Gale) Lyman, and Michael (Laurie) Lyman; his cherished grandchildren Nicholas (Jac) Lyman, Erica (Kevin) Lund, Emily Lingley, and Gregory (Alina) Lingley; as well as his treasured great-grandchildren Alaina Lund, Jack Lund, and Desmond Frederick Lingley. Fred is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary and John Roy, his brother-in-law Thomas Whalen, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Patricia Milano, Chella Boulanger, and Wilma Sherman. Fred will be forever loved, missed, and remembered by his family and friends.
Calling Hours are from 11:00 to 1:00 on Thursday, March 28th, at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main St, West Springfield, followed by Committal Prayers with military honors in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Fred's name be made to the West Springfield Library, 200 Park St., W. Spfld, MA 01089
