Obituary

Frederick H. Rosner, 90, of West Springfield, passed away peacefully  on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield, Fred was the oldest son to the late Henry and Evelyn (Stears) Rosner.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of sixty-six years, May (Martin) Rosner, a brother, Wesley Rosner, and a son, Rick Rosner. He is survived by five sons, Allen, Donald, Mark, Wesley and Robert, two daughters, Karen Rosner and Debra Rosner-Mutti, a brother, Wayne Rosner, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Fred graduated from then Trade High School in Springfield, majoring in automotive technology.  Fred lived most of his life in Agawam before moving to West Springfield.  Fred's passion and life revolved around cars and racing.  Since first going to Daytona Speedway when he was sixteen years old.  In 1965, after winning their fourth consecutive "Nascar Sportsman Championship", with driver Rene Charland, Fred was awarded the Nascar "Mechanic of The Year" in the sportsman division, the first year that award was given.  In 1970 Fred started "Rosner Race Cars" and built cars and chassis for numerous drivers and race teams throughout New England, New York and New Jersey.  In 2002 Fred was elected to the "New England Auto Racine (Near) Hall of Fame".  In semi retirement he turned his attention to hot rods and classic cars. Building his 1936 Ford pick up truck, Fred would drive to hundreds of cruise nights and car shows from Daytona, FL to New Brunswick, Canada with many of his friends.  In 2020, at the age of 85, he decided to close his shop in Gill, MA.  The eighty-five mile round trip from his home to the shop six days a week finally got to him, but whenever you visited him at his house you can be there would be a race or fabrication show on TV.  He will be surely missed.  Per his wishes there will be no wake or funeral services.
