Frederick J. Slowick, Sr.

1922 – 2018

West Springfield - Frederick J. Slowick, Sr., 95, died Tuesday, Feb. 20th at home surrounded by his loving family and caregivers.  Fred was born in Granby, MA to John F. & Mary H. Slowick and lived in West Springfield since 1922.  He served in the Navy during WWII as an Aviation Hydraulics Instructor in Chicago, where he met Helen, his wife of 66-1/2 years.  He worked at Indian Motorcycle, Associated Engineers and then at Chandler Evans Corp. in West Hartford for 31 years.  He is survived by his daughter Nancy and her husband Walter of Annapolis, MD, his brother James and many nieces and

nephews, especially Tommy Slowick of West Springfield. He was predeceased by his wife, his son Frederick, Jr., his siblings Edwin, Charlotte (Daubitz), J. Robert, Eugene and Richard.  He was a member of Holy Family Church in Holyoke and St. Thomas the Apostle Church of West Springfield.  A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas on Saturday, Feb 24, 2018 at 9:30am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday Feb 23 from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Frederick J.
