Frederick A. Uschmann, 85, entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 22, 2024 in the home that he loved. Born in Springfield, son of the late Edward and Alberta (Bondi) Uschmann, he was a lifelong resident of Agawam and a 1958 graduate of Agawam High School.  As a two-way starter on the 1957 football team he was selected to the All Western Mass first team and helped the school win its first AA Conference championship. Fred worked for the Connecticut Department Corrections at the Somers Maximum Security Facility for 20 years, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant in 1988. He enjoyed golf, bowling, and following all the New England professional sports teams. He particularly loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield.  He leaves his wife of fifty-nine years, Patricia (Pohner) Uschmann, a son and his wife, Shawn and Shannon Uschmann of Palmer, Alaska, a daughter and her husband, Susan and Richard Malinoski of West Springfield, two brothers, Robert and his wife Linda Uschmann of Feeding Hills, David Uschmann of West Springfield, five grandchildren, the lights of his life, Patrick Malinoski, Emma Uschmann, Paul Malinoski, Catherine Uschmann, Sarah Uschmann, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Uschmann.  A special thank you to his amazing care givers Eileen, Paulina, Joanna, Pauline, Aimee, Lisa, and Tina who cared for Fred with compassion and dignity and who he loved.
