Gabriele MacLeester
1922 – 2016

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Gabriele (Schick) MacLeester, 94, died Thursday in a local nursing home. Gabriele was born in Herten, Germany, grew up in Dresden and has lived in West Springfield since 2000. She met her husband, while he was stationed in Germany. They loved to travel the world, visiting Africa, Spain and family in the Alps. They retired to New Jersey and enjoyed spending time in Ocean City. She was predeceased by her husband Richard D. MacLeester. She leaves her nieces Barbara Gasperack and June Grunin; nephew Robert Scull; great niece Amy Bolduc and her family; great nephew David Gasperack and his family; cousin Monica Blaas and family friend Bill Gasperack. Besides her husband Gabriele was predeceased by her siblings Giesella and William; brother-in-law Elmer Scull; sister-in-law Ruth Scull. The family would like to thank the staff on West 2 at Country Estates in Agawam for their compassionate care. The funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday at 11:00am.
