Gary A. Bonavita, 62, died peacefully at his home in South Hadley surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield, son of the late Victor and Antoinette (Gagliarducci) Bonavita, he grew up in Agawam and was a 1972 graduate of Agawam High School. He also lived in Springfield before moving to South Hadley. Gary worked at the bulk mail center for the United States Postal Service before he retired. He leaves two sons, James P. "Jay" Bonavita, Joseph M. Bonavita, both of South Hadley, a daughter, Tammi M. Ouimette of Southampton, his former wife, Cher A. (McDonnell) Bonavita of South Hadley, a brother, Robert Bonavita of Agawam, three sisters, Betty Downie of Agawam, Carol Spaeth of West Springfield, Donna Pratte of Wilbraham, two grandchildren, Isabella Bonavita, Parker Bonavita, and nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Friday at 7pm at the CURRAN-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley. The burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7pm.
