Gary S. Thompson

1960 – 2026

SPRINGFIELD – Gary S. Thompson, 66, died peacefully Sunday morning surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born and raised in Pittsfield, the son of Charles and the late Joanna (Gilson) Thompson. After graduating from Pittsfield High School in1978 he moved to Houston and lived in Houston, Austin and San Antonio, where he met his wife, Berdie Sanchez. While in Texas, Gary and his brother Mark started the Thompson Construction Company. Later Gary returned to Massachusetts and together with Mark continued to run the Company for over 40 years. He is survived by his father Charles; his wife Berdie Thompson; two sons, Matthew S. Thompson (and his wife Jin Song Thompson) and Michael P. Thompson; three brothers, Chuck, Mark, and Michael Thompson (and his wife Natalie); his loving nieces in Massachusetts and New York; and his many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews in San Antonio, Texas. Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday, July 2nd starting at 10:30am and concluding with a funeral home service at Noon.
