Obituary

Genevieve A. (Shea) Miller passed away on July 30, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Holyoke, MA, daughter of the late Bartholomew and Margaret (Brennan) Shea. She was a graduate of Holyoke High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed at Wesson Memorial Hospital and the West Springfield Nursing Home. Following her retirement, she enjoyed working in her gardens, spending time with family and following the UCONN women's basketball team. She also devoted 12 years of retirement taking care of her husband "Duke". She was predeceased by her husband Richard J. "Duke" Miller, her brother Tom Shea and her sister Connie Von Hoene. She leaves her beloved children; Maureen P. Bergeron and husband Bruce, Dianne H. Jalbert and husband Tom, Michael J. Miller and wife Diane, Kenneth J. Miller and wife Christine and Joseph P. Miller and wife Sandy, her cherished grandchildren; Joseph Bergeron, Ryan Jalbert, Colleen Carrasquillo, Heather Martin, Zachery Miller, Adam Miller, Colin Jalbert, Kayley Miller, Alex Temple, Scott Miller and Taryn Miller, her beloved great grandchildren; Jackson and Lucien Carrasquillo and her beloved grandogs. She is also survived by her sister Marlene, brothers-in-law Bill Waslik, Mike Ahearn and Bob Miller and his wife Patz and many nieces and nephews. Her family would like to thank Baystate Hospice, Amada Senior Care and Bella Russo for keeping her comfortable. Friends and family may meet Wednesday at 11 am for the funeral Mass in St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St., W. Springfield. There are no calling hours and the burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or to Baystate VNA and Hospice, 50 Maple St., Springfield, MA 01102.
