Bertorello
December 6, 1932 – April 22, 2020
George Bertorello, 87, a resident of East Village Place, East Longmeadow and a longtime resident of Valley Stream, NY, was called safely home on Tuesday, April 22, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center, due to complications from Covid-19. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 6, 1932 of the late Stefan Bertorello and Genevieve Bertorello. He was raised in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Valley Stream, NY for over 50 years before moving to East Longmeadow in 2018. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and attained the rank of Corporal and was a member of the American Legion. He was employed at National Can for 30 years as a lithographer and was proud to be Shop Steward for many of those years. George enjoyed playing poker and bocce with his buddies at the Senior Centers in Valley Stream and Hempstead. He was an avid Yankees and New York Football Giants fan. He spent many wonderful years travelling with Lucile and their close friends, especially remembering the numerous fun times at "The Bungalow" and down in Acapulco. George leaves behind his devoted daughter Stephanie Fitzgerald and her husband, Frank of Wilbraham, along with his two cherished grandchildren, Francis and Avery Fitzgerald. George is predeceased by his wife Lucille Bertorello (Palmer), with whom he was blessed with over 52 years of happiness and his brothers Jack and Tony. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Due to the current circumstances, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in George's memory to Baystate Health Foundation. Curran-Jones Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
