Obituary

George A. Chilton, 93, of Elm Street died Monday. George was born in West Springfield and has lived here all his life. He was a longtime real estate agent for Speed, Hegemen and Dandy in West Springfield. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a surveyor and scout, was a member of the West Springfield Masonic Lodge in Agawam and has been an active member for over 50 years at the First Congregational Church in West Springfield. He leaves his beloved wife of 70 years, Geraldine (Bristol) Chilton; a son Gary of Meriden, New Hampshire; a daughter Linda Fellows and her husband Steve of Cornish, New Hampshire; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The funeral will be held at the First Congregational Church, Park Street West Springfield on Friday April 25th at 12 noon. Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home on Thursday April 24th from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers please send Memorial contributions to the Cornish Rescue Squad, a wonderful group of volunteers who have cared for him over the years with such tender hands.
