George Deveno, 88, of Springfield Street died Thursday at Country Estates with his family by his side. George was born in Westfield, lived in Springfield and Wilbraham before moving to Agawam in 2015. He was a heavy equipment driver for Zielenski Construction Company and more recently the Lane Trap Rock Quarry in Westfield. George served in Japan for the United States Army during World War II. He leaves his wife Ann (Cullinan) Deveno; eight children Daniel, Timothy, Christopher, Andrew, Patrick, Michael and David Deveno and Kate Gaw; two sisters Nancy Scott and Ann Duquette; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two children LuAnn Mazza and Daniel Deveno. The funeral will be held Monday at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home with a calling hour from 11 am to 12 noon followed by Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 12:30 pm.
