George E. Murphy, 70, died Tuesday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Holyoke and lived most of his life in West Springfield. He was a well-known TV and Radio talk show host who hosted "Making It Here" on PBS and also hosted for several years on WMAS 1450 am radio. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He leaves his loving wife Linda (Knapp) Murphy, daughters Elizabeth Murphy and Karin O'Neill, sons Jim, Kenny and Mike O'Neill, his mother Helen Kennedy, six grandchildren Joseph, Ella Grace, James Jr., Kathleen, Paige and Matthew, seven great grandchildren and his special care giver Jessica. He was predeceased by his brother James P. Murphy. The funeral home service will be Tuesday March 26 th at 12 noon at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by burial with Military Honors at the Mass Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 4:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. For more details please go to curranjones.com.
