Obituary

George L. "Pop" Paro, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2017 surrounded by his family.  Born in Agawam, son of the late Homer and Eleanor (Thompson) Paro, he lived in Agawam most of his life.  He also lived in Ft. Pierce, FL for over twenty years before moving back to the Agawam area.  George was a self-employed plumber for many years.  He had coached for the West Springfield Royaletts and was an avid bowler and golfer.  He was also a Korean army veteran and a member of the VFW in Ft. Pierce.  His wife, Beverly B. (Monette) Paro died November 8, 2016.  He leaves seven daughters, Virginia M. Norcross of Lapeer, MI, Janet L. Paro of West Springfield, Joanie A. Roux of Agawam, Mary T. Hill of Chicopee, Carol D. Pietroniro of Granville, Lisa Knorr of Chicopee, Tina Paro of Wilbraham, a son, Keith Paro of Springfield, two sisters, Marie Viens and Theresa Losito both of Feeding Hills, fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Friday at 2pm at the AGAWAM CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 4-7pm.
