Obituary

Springfield – George Plummer 89 died Tuesday in Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Wilno, Poland. Came to this country when he was 12, resided in Ohio and moved to Springfield in 1950. He served as a drill sergeant in the US Army from 1951 to 1957. He met his wife Inge (Hoffman) while serving in Germany. George worked for the Springfield Cast Products Company for 29 years and was a 50 year member of the Springfield Turnverein Club in Agawam. He loved touring the United States and Europe with his family. He leaves his wife Inge, one son Richard G. Plummer and his wife Donna of Ludlow, three daughters Irene Lopes and her husband Al of Ludlow, Rosemary Libby and her husband Roger of Springfield and Linda Martin and her husband Daniel of Ludlow, 7 grandchildren Christine, Lisa, Amanda, Daniel, Michael, Nicole and Stephen and 4 great grandchildren Jessica, Alex, Ella and Payton. The committal service will be Thursday at 2 pm at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. No calling hours. Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
