George C. Smith, 76, died peacefully Wednesday morning, June 26, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston surrounded by his loving family.  George was born in New York City on September 7, 1942, the son of the late George A.C. and Elizabeth A. (Collins) Smith.  He grew up in West Springfield, MA and lived in Agawam, MA before moving to Harwich, MA in 2002.  He worked in Customer Service at Mead-Westvaco (formerly U.S. Envelope) for 39 years retiring 2002.  George served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War Era and retired from the U.S. Navy Reserves after 29 years.  George loved a good game of golf and wintering in Florida.   He leaves his loving wife of 54 years Dorothy (Allard) Smith; four children John A. Smith his wife Christina of Easthampton, Katherine E. Hennessey her husband Sean of Agawam, Patricia Smith-Niemiec her husband Henry of Chester and Scott C. Smith and his partner Noreen Mitchell of Feeding Hills.  He loved spending time with his eleven grandchildren:  Allyssa, Alexis, Scott, Victoria, Dale, Kristofer, Amanda, Harrison, Colin, Elizabeth and Morgan and his great grandson Thomas.  A private funeral will be held at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Research.
