Gerald B. Norgaard

1942 – 2021

Agawam – Gerald B. "Chey" Norgaard, 79, died peacefully Sunday in a local nursing home.  Chey was born and raised in Fosston, MN before moving to Agawam as a teenager.  He was a graduate of Agawam High School and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He and his family own and operate Norgaard Machine Company in Feeding Hills.  Chey was a member of the St. Anne's Country Club, the Dante Club, and the West Springfield Fish & Game Club.  He leaves his wife of 52 years Geraldine (Soden) Norgaard; a son Sean Norgaard; his daughter Kristin Stahl and her partner Douglas Freeman; three grandsons Devon and Kason Nieves and Brady Freeman; and his siblings Steven Myhre, Mary Lamb, Janelle Molleur, and the late Gayle Norgaard.  Besides his sister, Chey was predeceased by his father Palmer Norgaard, mother Gladys (Andersen) Myhre and his stepfather  William Mayhre.   Visiting hours will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  A private service will be held in the Massachusetts Veteran' s Memorial Cemetery.  For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
