Geraldine M. (Powell) Russell, 69, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 21, 2023 at home.  Geraldine was born on September 10, 1953 in St. Albans, VT to William J. Powell, Sr. and Betty Stearns Powell of Swanton, VT.  After living in Springfield briefly, they moved to West Springfield where she grew up attending West Side Schools.  She met her future husband and life mate in 1972.  She graduated from the Lebaron Hairdressing school and was a licensed hairdresser.  She also worked waitressing and barmaid jobs locally.  She had many retail jobs at Zayre, Kmart, Lerner Women, Hit or Miss, and Sally's Beauty Supply.  While working at Agawam School Cafeterias, she opened her own business, Feeding Hills Redemption Center.  Her favorite things included going to Pow woes (her Abenaki heritage), concert, casinos, spring trips to Swanton, Lake Placid and Lake George, foliage trips to the White Mountains, road trips to Nashville, summers on Cape Cod and fishing with her husband, but her passion was her family, especially her two sons, grandson and husband.  Her love for them was without limits and she supported them in all endeavors.  Cancer came in 2016 and she beat it back twice but her worn down body couldn't do it the third time.  As in all her life, she fought hard, never giving up until the end.  Her family wishes to thank everyone who helped her, too many to name.  She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, William Jr., Gary, Francis, Richard, and her sisters, Beverly, Terry, Nancy and Debra.  She leaves grieving her husband, Michael, her sons, Jeremy Powell of Ellington, CT and James Russell of Feeding Hills along with his girlfriend, Cristy.  She leaves her grandson, Brett Powell and her favorite nephew Mark Powell.  A graveside service will be Saturday at 11:30am at Springfield Street Cemetery in Feeding Hills.  The AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME is in charge.
