Gertrude E. (McGarry) Davignon, 98, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 5, 2022 in Agawam.  Born in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Patrick and Elizabeth (Armstrong) McGarry, she lived in West Springfield for over seventy years.  Gertrude worked for thirty-five years for New England Telephone. After her retirement, she worked for the West Springfield Record.  She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the John Boyle O'Reilly Club and was a member of their Claddagh Dancers.  She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and previously was a communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church and the St. Francis Cabrini Church where she was a member of its women's club, the Rosary Society and a Eucharistic Minister.  Gertrude's family would like to thank the staff at the Atrium for the compassionate care that was shown to her during her stay there.  Her husband, Raymond R. Davignon died in 1970. She leaves four sons, Raymond R. Davigon, Jr. of Southwick, John J. and his wife Elaine Davignon of Spokane, WA, Joseph F. Davignon, Brian T. Davigon both of West Springfield, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.  The funeral will be Thursday at 9am from the West Springfield Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street followed by a Mass at St. Thomas Church at 10.
