Gloria (Martinez) Baez, 82, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 23, 2024.  Born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Pablo Martinez and Mercedes Zayas. She lived in Springfield for over sixty years. She worked at Baystate Medical Center for over twenty years before her retirement.  She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.  She was predeceased by her husband, Benigno Baez and a son, Nelson Baez.  She leaves a son, Jorge Baez and wife, Ingrid Negron of Clermont, FL, a brother, Jose Martinez of Springfield, four sisters, Ramona Santa of Springfield, Sonia Rivera of Chicopee, Ana Vazquez of Hartford, CT, Milagros Martinez of Puerto Rico, four grandchildren, Robyn Lemus and husband Juan, Allison DiRienzo and husband Louis, Nelson A. Baez, Johnathon Baez and wife Chelsea. Five great-grandchildren, Jason Lemus, Jacob Lemus, Audrina DiRienzo, Giavanna DiRienzo, Ellie Anna Baez and nieces and nephews.  The funeral will be Thursday at 8am at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield with a Mass at 9am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 40 Waverly Street, followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, both in Springfield.  Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7pm.
