Gloria M. DeForge

1922 – 2017

FEEDING HILLS – Gloria M. (Suffriti) DeForge, 95, passed away peacefully Wednesday at Wingate of West Springfield.  Gloria was born in West Springfield to the late Vincenzo and Emma (Ragazzini) Suffriti.  She was predeceased by her husband Raymond DeForge in 1985.  She leaves a daughter Beverly Deforge of Longmeadow; two brothers Edward and Everett Suffriti; a sister Dorothy Wodell and many nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband, Gloria was predeceased by a brother Mario Suffriti and sister Florence Scibelli. To her family and friends, she exemplified love.  Throughout her 95 years, she enjoyed the simple things in life, such as the company of friends and family, enjoying her yardwork, and family vacations.  Gloria loved reminiscing of her earlier years.  The times of dancing until she had to carry her shoes home.  She would entertain her friends whistling songs for them and strangers who were lucky enough to hear her.  Her life was a testament of her true love of family.  Gloria truly loved being a wife and mother.  She was a loving and caring daughter who took her mother home to care for her for ten years.  Her quick wit and stories from long ago will be greatly missed but mostly we will miss her gentle, loving spirit.  Her family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Wingate for their compassion and special care of Gloria in her last days.    The funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday at 11:00am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral home service Tuesday morning from 9:30 – 11:00am.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross for the recent hurricane victims.
