Gloria A. (Lambert) Moquin, 100, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 16 2026 at home. Born in Ludlow, MA, September 23, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Romeo and Elizabeth (Moore) Lambert. She grew up in Springfield and moved to Grandy, CT in 1954. She also lived in Granville, MA. Gloria had boundless energy and creativity. She was a master gardener, a talented artist who loved baking, sewing, and knitting. She created beautiful stitchery and apparel. She was an excellent cook and baker. No one in the family can forget her delicious apple squares and bread. She loved gardening-both produce and flowers. Gloria took up oil painting in her later years and won an award for her exhibit at the Kent Memorial Library in Suffield, CT. She was an extremely talented and accomplished woman. She helped her husband navigate an experimental Kamen helicopter from Texas to Connecticut. She still found time to raise five children. She also found time for a few odd jobs to make extra spending money. During her life she owned a dry cleaning business, worked for Cigna, Grand Union, and the TSA at Bradley International Airport. Gloria was active in Saint Theresa's church fairs. She had a deep love of the ocean and boats. She enjoyed flying, auto racing, and was proud to watch her children and grandchildren playing competitive sports. She took Drama class in high school and was ecstatic when her grandson, Corey, would ask her to act in his movies and short comedy videos. She was a scene stealer. Gloria was a self-taught upholsterer of chairs, couches, car seats, etc. She also had no difficulties cleaning fish that her husband caught or plucking one of the chickens they raised for dinner. Most of her life she had bountiful vegetable gardens from which she canned and froze for the winter months. Her daughter Deborah said, “I don’t know of anyone else that had a root cellar, but mom did. It was creepy to crawl in to by the way! Mom taught me to sew, refinish furniture, cook, can, and instilled a love of nature, encouraging me to become a Horticulturalist. I think secretly she would have liked that for herself. As children Lynn and I nicknamed her “the Pioneer Woman” and she truly was. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon H.R. Moquin in 2010. She leaves two daughters, Lynn M. Balfour of Granville, MA, Deborah E. Manor of Lewes, DE, three sons, Keith L. Moquin of Tolland, MA, Kent L. Moquin of South Windsor, CT, Kyle L. Moquin of Feeding Hills, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. A private service was held in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
