Grace D. (Sevigny) Gagnon, 92, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015. Born in Holyoke, Feb. 13, 1923, daughter of the late Jean Baptiste and Dolores (Voghell) Sevigny, she lived in South Hadley, and Naples, FL before moving to Westfield in 2003. Grace was raised in Chicopee, then married the late Armand W. Gagnon in 1940. They lived in South Hadley for most of their married life, in the home which Armand and his sons built. Grace worked for many years as a food service coordinator at Mt. Holyoke and Smith Colleges before undertaking the challenging task of computerizing the Smith College recipe and food requisition system. In retirement, she and Armand enjoyed time as snowbirds in Naples, until coming to live with their son John, and his wife Nicole, in Westfield. Grace was well-known and well-loved for her hospitality, culinary prowess, and knitting expertise. She was very active with the Red Hat Society both here and in Naples and had been a communicant of St. Theresa's Church in South Hadley. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Armand in 2006, three sons, Donald, Michael, and John Gagnon, a granddaughter, Mary Anne Gagnon, and a sister, Florence LaBelle. She leaves two sons, Richard L. Gagnon of Easthampton, Kenneth and his wife Dina Gagnon of Youngstown, OH, a brother and his wife, George and Marguerite Sevigny of Red Hook, NY, three daughters-in-laws, Deborah Gagnon of Canyon Lake, CA, Anne Fein of Claremont, NH, Nicole Cansino of Westfield, nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 12 noon at St. Theresa's Church followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service at the CURRAN-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 33 Lamb Street, from 10am-11:30, all in South Hadley.
