Harold W. Whitaker
1921-2014
WEST SPRINGFIELD-Harold Walter Whitaker, 92, died Saturday at the Soldier's Home in Holyoke. He served in the Navy in the Pacific from August 1942 to September 1945. Harold worked for many years as an electrician and was a member of the Electrical Workers Union. A 66 year member of the Masons, he was; a past Master of the Elm-Belcher Lodge; a member of the Melha Shriners in Springfield; a 57 year member of the Scottish Rite Mason Chapter in Springfield and a member of the American Legion Post 207. He also ran the lights at the Coliseum for the Springfield Indian games, the Ice Capades and the Shriner's Circus. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Marsh) Whitaker in 2011, his brother Alfred Whitaker and his sister Marjorie Sullivan. He leaves a son Kim Whitaker of North Brookfield, MA, two daughters Gail Krawczynski and her husband Donald and Lorrie Cotton and her husband Jack, both of West Springfield, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The graveside service and burial at Paucatuck Cemetery will take place in the spring. Donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children. For more information please go to curranjones.com.
