Mulcahy
October 23, 1922 – March 25, 2017
Hazel (Hayes) Mulcahy passed away on March 25th peacefully in the care of hospice. Hazel was born October 23, 1922 in Springfield, Massachusetts. She attended Springfield public schools. After graduation, she worked at the Springfield Telephone Company. She married the love of her life William Mulcahy on Thanksgiving Day 1945. They moved to Longmeadow where they raised their family and lived for many years. Hayes was an avid golfer as well as a very accomplished bridge player, she belonged to Elm Crest Country Club, Longmeadow Country Club, and was a long-time member of the Springfield Bridge Club. She loved to entertain with family and friends and was known for her love of cooking. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Hayes was predeceased by her brother Richard Lussier who was killed in France during World War II. She was also predeceased by her husband William Mulcahy who passed away in 2008. She leaves four children, Nancy Sheehan and her husband, Dr. Ted Sheehan, of Falmouth, MA, Barbara Mulcahy, Richard Mulcahy, and his wife Denise, of Charlestown, RI and Timothy Mulcahy, and his wife Robin, of Longmeadow, MA as well as many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. There will be a memorial mass Saturday April 1st at 11 am at St. Mary's of Longmeadow and a private burial service for the family. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Wingate in East Longmeadow as well as Spectrum Hospice for their loving care of Hazel during her final months.
