Hedwig "Hedi" Meunier
1925-2011
SPRINGFIELD – Hedwig "Heidi" (Aschauer) Meunier, 86, passed away Wednesday, November 23rd at Heritage Hall West in Agawam. She was born on September 23, 1925 in Rott am Inn, Germany to the late Josef and Hedwig (Schederecker) Aschauer and came to the United States in 1948. She was a longtime resident of the Indian Orchard section of Springfield and worked for many years at Artted Inc. in Springfield until retiring in 1990. Hedi was predeceased by her husband of 22 years, Leroy R. Meunier in 1971 and also her longtime companion, Stephen R. DeSimone of Agawam. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Josef, Sebastian, Seigfried & Ludwig Aschauer and her sister, Maria Hoheneder. She is survived by several nieces and nephews in Germany. She will be greatly missed by her extended family here: Fred & Marlyn Groll, Walter & Elizabeth Groll, Donna & Mark Brunton, Linda & John DeGray, Fred & Claire Groll, Lisa Groll, Tina DePergola, Susan Groll, Gary & Nancy DeSimone, Tom DeSimone and their families. Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Heritage Hall West and Dr.William Freedberg, for providing such wonderful care for her. Hedi's funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Saturday at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Michael's Cemetery.
