Helen C. (Cadette) Paixão, 95, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 15, 2016 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Jose and Emilia (Fernandes) Duarte, she grew up in Holyoke and Portugal before moving to South Hadley in 1951. Helen was a member of and past president of the Portuguese Club in Holyoke. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking and the Red Sox. Helen was a communicant of St. Theresa of Lisieux Church. Her husband, Americo Paixão died in 1959. She leaves three sons, Joseph Paixão, Americo "Max" Paixão and his wife Lori Paixão, Alberto Paixão and his wife Cindy Herd all of South Hadley, a brother, Albert Cadette of Northampton, a sister, Mable Lopes of Chicopee, seven grandchildren, Joseph, Eric, Katie, Scott, Lisa, James and Molly Paixão. She was predeceased by a grandson, Jeffrey Paixão. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:30am from the CURRAN-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 33 Lamb Street with a Mass in St. Theresa of Lisieux Church at 11. The burial will follow in St. Jerome Cemetery in Holyoke. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:30 - 10:30am.
