Helen Steadman, 90, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday September 4 th . Helen was born in Springfield, daughter of the late Leon and Ethel (Loper) Warren. She was a long-time resident of West Springfield where she was a member of the women's aux for the VFW.She was devoted to her family and loved to play cards at their gatherings. She enjoyed a friendly game of cribbage with her son Doug and even beat him occasionally! Often on Sunday evenings, Helen would play" Rocklanding" Rummy with her daughter, Lisa, Nephew Bill Faust and his wife Deb. Aside from cards, Helen enjoyed doing crafts with her friend and "Sista" is Jeannine.Helen is predeceased by her parents Leon and Ethel, brothers Leon "Dutch"Lawrence and Bert; her husband Bernie,also a daughter Nancy Baker. She leaves behind her sons and their spouses Douglas andSusan of Somers CT, Mark andBetty of Springfield; her daughters LouAnn Foley and Husband Ed of West Springfield, and Lisa McBride and husband Matthew of Feeding Hills; son in law Jack Baker of West Springfield; Grandson's John and Joshua Baker, Justin and Michael Foley, and Jimmy Steadman and Gerald Steadman; Granddaughter's Kristina Foley, Megan Steadman and Sabrina McBride; Great Grandson, Nolan Foley who affectionately called her "GIGI"; Brother in Law, Norman Steadman and wife Marcia; Sister in law, Estella Myers; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved and they loved her. The family would like to thank all of Helen's caregivers which include Justin, Robin, Andrea. A special thank you to Loriann and Maria from Baystate Home Hospice who's efforts allowed Helen to end her journey with comfort and dignity. A funeral service will be held for Helen at the West Springfield Curran-Jones on Thursday at 6:30 pm. Calling hours will precede the service from 4 to 6:30 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Rays of Hope, The Shriners hospital for Children and the Sister Caritas Cancer Center.
