Henry D. Smith

1953 – 2019

HOLYOKE – Henry Dennis Smith, 65, died Friday morning at home surrounded by his loving family.  Henry was born and raised in Springfield, the son of the late Henry and Ramona (Connors) Smith.  He lived in Colorado before settling in Holyoke.  A preneed insurance salesman for Colombian Life Insurance Company, Henry was a former Catholic Priest with the Marion of Immaculate Conception and served as the Pastor of Divine Redeemer Catholic Church in Colorado Springs.  Henry held a Master's in Theology, a Master of Family Counseling, and proudly attended Catholic University in pursuit of a Doctoral degree in Canon Law.  A devoted Catholic he was a Communicant of Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield.  Henry was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing in the Ed Normand golf league at East Mountain Country Club.  He leaves his wife Teri Charette-Smith; sisters Karen (Tom) Scahill and Noreen (Jerry) Fitzgerald; brother Michael (Janice) Smith; many loving nieces and nephews and his best companion, his dog Bella. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Saturday at 9:30am with Liturgy in Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Church at 11:00am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Dominican Nuns in West Springfield.
