Heriberto Colon-Valentin

1932 – 2017

SPRINGFIELD – Heriberto "Berto" Colon-Valentin, 85, husband of the late Rosa Gonzalez was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 25, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.  Born April 6, 1932 in Adjuntas P.R. he was the son of the late Demetrio and Anastacia Colon.  He migrated to Massachusetts in the early 50's where he worked for American Bosch and later retiring from Craftman Tool Company in 1986.  Berto worked as a machinist in the manufacturing industry for many years, but his true passion was farming and gardening.  He was an active church member at Primera Iglesia-Caguas Norte for many years.  He enjoyed reading the bible and spreading the gospel to all those that came into contact with him.  He is survived by his daughter Berlinda and her spouse Miguel Dones of Pennsylvania, Heriberto "JR" and his spouse Zoila Colon of Chicopee, Edwin and his spouse Migdalia Colon of Springfield.  He is also survived by Sister Nilda and Sonia of P.R. Solmaria of Lowell, Brother Cesar Colon of Springfield and by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  In addition to his wife Rosa, he was predeceased by his son Deiby Colon and granddaughter Leslie Dones.  The family would like to thank the staff of Wingate of Wilbraham for their efforts and dedication.  The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home, Wednesday at 10:00am followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.
