Ines
Martinez
January 15, 1928 – October 14, 2019
Ines Cuellar Martinez, 91, passed away at home peacefully and surrounded by the love of her family on October 14, 2019. She was born in Saldaña, Tolima, Colombia South America to the late Clementina Cuellar-Gomez and Florentino Cuellar. Ines moved to Worcester, MA in 1962 and worked as a nanny for many years. Ines worked various factory jobs but she was most proud of her work through the Pioneer Valley Senior Program with Mercy Hospital Rehab Center and her volunteer work with the Ronald McDonald House and All Souls Catholic Church community. Ines was petite in size with a big heart, beautiful smile and a fierce advocate for those in need. She gave her love, support and guidance unconditionally to many. She helped countless people by providing them with a place to stay and assistance. Ines' heart was full of compassion for others. Ines' sewing skills were extraordinary as she sewed most of her daughters' clothes when they were children. She was a talented cook and baker and she poured her love into everything she made. Ines also loved to dance and sing (although she couldn't hold a tune) and this joy spread to so many. In 1964, Ines met the love of her life and late husband, Isaias Martinez in Worcester, MA. In 1979, they moved to Springfield, MA. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Maribel Martinez (Fernando Muñiz) of New Haven, CT and Nansy Martinez (David Morales) who provided ongoing care in the home in Springfield, MA. Three grandchildren Rolando Vazquez II, 33 (Ashley Foley) of Manchester, CT; Talia Vazquez, 25 of New Haven, CT; and Dominic Isaias Martinez, 9 of Springfield, MA. One great grand-daughter, Sofia Vazquez, 23 mos. Ines shared a special bond with her grandson, Dominic and leaves him with her love and many wonderful memories. Ines is predeceased by her siblings, Tomasa Duarte, Maximiliana Aldana, and Jose Nery Cuellar. She leaves behind her two younger sisters, Abigail Carolini of Everett, MA and Dora Cuellar and her husband, Jorge Conde of Port St. Lucie, FL. Ines also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins, her in-laws the Martinez family and dear friends all who loved her deeply. She also leaves behind her home health aide Arlene Soto who provided her with gentle and loving care up until the day of Ines' passing. The Martinez family extends their deepest appreciation for the wonderfully compassionate care and support provided by Baystate Hospice Services. Calling hours are Friday October 18 from 4pm-7pm at the Curran-Jones Funeral Home 109 Main St, West Springfield, MA. The funeral will begin at Curran-Jones Funeral Home Saturday at 8:30 am followed by a Mass at 9:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church and burial at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
