Obituary

Irene J. Gallerani, 85, of Agawam, Massachusetts, passed away on November 26, 2020. She was born to parents Margaret MacLeod Sklepowicz and Edward Sklepowicz, on January 1, 1935, in Whately, Massachusetts.  She was proud to be the first Hampden County baby born that year. Irene graduated from Deerfield High School in 1952.  She attended secretarial school going on to work at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.  In 1957 she married Alec S. Widelo, of Hatfield, Massachusetts and moved to Wisconsin and then to Rutland, Vermont. After Alec's passing, Irene was lucky to find love again with Edward D. Gallerani of Agawam.  They made their home in Agawam and were married for 43 years.  Irene truly made a home for her husband and two children.  She could do everything from cooking delicious meals every day, sewing curtains to taking care of the yard work while helping with the family drugstores in Agawam. Irene loved living life to the fullest every day.  She loved her grandchildren and was very proud of the smart, young adults they had become.  She was also thrilled to be blessed with three great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed spending winters in Hollywood, Florida with Edward and her friends while also traveling to many countries from Russia to Egypt. Irene will be forever remembered by her children, Barry J. Gallerani and his wife, Roberta, of Bolton, Massachusetts and Anne G. Lattanzio and her husband, Clifford, of Suffield, Connecticut.  Grandchildren include Taylor and Samuel Patterson of Hinsdale, New Hampshire, Nicholas Gallerani and his fiancée, Morgan Lumbra, of Burlington, Vermont, Hilary Lattanzio of Boston, Massachusetts and Parker Lattanzio of Boston. Massachusetts. She leaves a sister, Jane Lucas of Florence, Massachusetts and a brother, Edward Sklepowicz Jr., of South Deerfield, Massachusetts.  She leaves a sister-in-law, Pauline Osley, of Hatfield and a brother-in-law, Robert Widelo in Virginia.  Several nieces and nephews will also miss her. Irene's joy of life will be her legacy and an inspiration to all who knew her. We love you!  Na Zdrowie! For more information or to make online condolences please go to curranjones.com.
