Irene (Wiater) Jones, 90, passed away peacefully on July 17 ^th after a brief period of declining health. She lived most of her life in West Springfield. She was a graduate of Rockville High School and was employed as a long distance operator with New England Telephone Company and later at the Community Care Mental Health Center in Springfield as a switchboard operator. She was happiest as a wife and homemaker raising her sons. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1998, and her five siblings. She is survived by her two sons, Steven Jones and his wife Fern Barrasso of Glastonbury, CT and Jeffrey Jones and his partner Greg Simmons of Somers, CT and a beloved grandson Andrew Jones of Glastonbury, CT. She also leaves a nephew and several nieces who were very dear to her. Calling hours are Wednesday, July 19 ^th from 4 to 6PM at Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield MA. Family and friends may meet for the funeral mass on Thursday, July 10 ^th at 10AM at St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield.
