Irene A. O'Connell
1925 – 2014

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Irene A. (Guidetti) O'Connell, 88, formerly of Kelso Avenue died Wednesday in Mercy Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born in Springfield and has lived in West Springfield all her life. During the war she volunteered for the U.S.O. at the Eastern States Exposition. Her husband Emmett P. O'Connell died in 2003. She leaves her two children Dennis and his partner Darcio Volpiano of New York City and Kathleen A. Bryan of West Springfield; two grandchildren Blake Bryan and his wife Brittany and Brandon Bryan and a great granddaughter "on the way". Besides her husband Irene was predeceased by her six siblings Alex, Robert and Frank Guidetti, Linda Beston, Rose Grassilli and Mary Barbarini. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.
