FEEDING HILLS – Jacqueline M. (Rowell) Cavanaugh, 73, died peacefully at home Thursday morning surrounded by her family after a long illness. She was born and raised in Springfield moving to Feeding Hills in 1971 where her husband, Lawrence Cavanaugh was raised. Jackie spent twenty years dedicated to raising her four children, Lin Esposito, husband Fred, Cindy Smith, husband Jeffrey, William Cavanaugh, wife Joye and Mara LaFlamme, husband Arthur. As a stay at home mom she was involved with and established the PTO at Robinson Park Elementary and a longtime member of the Feeding Hills Grange. Jackie believed in and lived a life of service to others, ingrained in her by family at a young age, volunteering with the Spfd. Assoc. of the Blind. Her dedication to special needs people began with her brother Billy (predeceased) who lived at Belchertown State School and sister, Linda (predeceased). She achieved a degree in Human Services, starting her career with Friends of the Retarded running a day program and working to establish residences for institutionalized people. Later she was a residential manager for the May Institute. She leaves her husband of 53 years Larry, a beloved sister Frances Rowell; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday, June 11 ^th from 4:00 – 7:00pm. In honor of Jackie, the family requests that you wear light colored clothing and bring a feeling of joy.
