James A. Benoit, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9th. Jim was predeceased by his daughter, Debbie Lambert. Jim leaves behind his loving wife, Viola, of 65 years. He will be greatly missed by his children Donald (Sharon) Benoit, Dennis (Nalini) Benoit, Darlene (Daniel) Strauser, John (Amy) Benoit, his son-in-law Steve Lambert, his 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Jim was a Navy veteran and a master carpenter, owner of Call Jim Renovations. He loved to fish and garden and was an avid supporter of the Red Sox, the Patriots, and especially, the UCONN girls' basketball team. The committal service with Military Honors will be Friday at 9am at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. A memorial service will be held at The First Baptist Church, 50 Parker Street, East Longmeadow, Mass., on Saturday, March 16th, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Holyoke VNA and Hospice Life Care.
