James Mauer

1962 -2020

Wilbraham –James Mauer, 58, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 8, 2020, at his home in Rockport. James was born in Chicopee, son of Winifred (Powers) Mauer and the late Albin Mauer. He grew up in Chicopee Falls, and graduated from Chicopee High School in 1980. He went on to receive his Civil Engineering Degree from STCC.  James was a Senior Project Manager at Fontaine Bros Inc., where he was a dedicated employee of 37 years. A lover of the outdoors, he was a member of the Wilbraham Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee from 2001 – 2009. He loved Saturday breakfasts with his son, fishing with his dad, and taking kayaking trips with his family. Hardworking, genuine, and loving, he will be greatly missed by his family, many friends, and co-workers. He leaves his wife Karen (Woods) Mauer; son James Mauer Jr., mother Winifred (Powers) Mauer; siblings; Alan and his wife Maureen, Tom and his wife Joy, Pattie Reiss, Dave and his wife Amy, Jackie Robbins and her husband John; a cousin Colleen Kaplan and several nieces and nephews, as well as his dog Parker. He was predeceased by his dogs Emma (his first true love), and Tripper. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in James' memory may be made to the Minnechaug Land Trust (P.O. Box 455, Hampden, MA 01036), and the Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center's Foundation for TJO Animals (66 Industry Avenue, Suite 3, Springfield, MA 01104).
