James J. Peters, 79, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015 at home. Born in Holyoke, son of the late Michael and Florence (Deyo) Peters, he was a lifelong resident of South Hadley. James worked as a mason tender for various construction companies through Local 999. He was a former coach of little league baseball in South Hadley, a candlepin bowler, played pitch and enjoyed country music. He also bred labrador retrievers. He leaves his wife, Patricia A. (Steiger) Peters, three sons, James J. "Gee Gee" Peters of South Hadley, Michael F. and his wife Kym Peters of Chicopee, William E. and his wife Lynn Peters of Chicopee, two daughters, Donna M. and her husband James Fowler of Leominster, Susan M. Fugler of Granby, five grandchildren, Heather Allardice, Sara Vieu, Crystal Vieu Dufresne, Meaghan Stattuck, Bevin Peters and eleven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Lebeau and a grandson, Matthew Vieu. All services are private and the CURRAN-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME is in charge.
