Jane B. (Sroczyk) Buchanan, passed away Sunday at the age of 92 at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born Feb. 2, 1924 in Poland to Marya (Augustyn) and Thomas Sroczyk. She immigrated to the US in 1925. She resided in Chicopee most of her life. She served in the US Navy as a Wave during WWII in Washington, DC. She leaves her daughters, Cheryl Hubbard (James) of Bristol, CT; Jean Fitzpatrick of Chicopee; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Hubbard) and John Rowen of Wyncote, PA; Bonnie (Hubbard) Anderson and Colby of Bristol, CT; two grandsons, Stephen Phillips and Patrick Fitzgerald of Chicopee; and two great-grandchildren, Courtney and Seth Anderson. Her siblings: Mary Bates of Pensacola, FL; Helen Light of Feeding Hills; Fran Castor of Springfield; Katherine Richards of New Brunswick, Canada; and Thomas Sroczyk of Greenfield, plus many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Bradford Buchanan, their daughter Linda and her sister Amelia Sroczyk. We wish to thank the staff, especially Israel, her nurse for the wonderful care they gave during her illness. The funeral home service will be Thursday at 1 pm at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by burial in Forestdale Cemetery.
