Jean Elizabeth (nee Hanson) Ayotte was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada in 1924, the daughter of Margaret Parkinson Hanson and Clayton Hanson. She died on December 16, 2019 in Bennington, Vermont at the age of 95. Her family moved to Houlton, Maine in 1928 and later became a naturalized citizen of the United States. She married Claude J. Ayotte, born in Van Buren Maine, on October 7, 1943. They are survived by their six children, Richard J. Ayotte and his wife Dorene Hutchins Ayotte, J. Patrick Ayotte and partner Lynne J. Lally, Claudia J. Smigelski and her husband Anthony J. Smigelski, Joanne E. Fuller and her husband David Fuller, Roger C. Ayotte and his wife Laura Gomes Ayotte and Janice C. Rowe. Jean worked as a legal secretary for Attorney Frederic Weinberg, in Springfield, MA. Jean was predeceased by her husband Claude J. Ayotte in 1962, and by her grandchildren 1st Lieutenant Travis J. Fuller in 2005 and Amy Rose Ayotte MacDonald in 2011; by her brothers Ralph Edward Hanson, Robert Hanson, Paul Hanson, and David Hanson; and son-in-law Joseph Leonard Rowe in 2016. Jean is also survived by her sister Mary Hanson Foster of Hadley MA, and brothers John Hanson of Springfield and William Hanson of Dewey Beach, Delaware, 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren 5 great great grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday December 20th at 9:00 am from the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by Mass at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, Feeding Hills.
