Jean D. Delaney
1926 – 2011

AGAWAM – Jean D. (Andrews) Delaney, 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Thursday at the Jewish Nursing Home. Jean was born in West Springfield the daughter of John and Emma (Nowell) Andrews and was a 1944 graduate of West Springfield High School. She retired from the Town of West Springfield's Health Department in 1986. Prior to that Jean worked in the Town's Accounting Department and the Farmers Exchange in West Springfield. She was a sports enthusiast, a Gridiron Mom and an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Jean will be most remembered for her beautiful smile, strong spirit and her love and devotion to her family. She was predeceased by her beloved son William John Delaney in 1983 and her loving husband of 51 years William Martin Delaney in 1996, her son-in-law John McGrady in 2005 her sisters Mildred Densmore, Edna Gravel and Eunice Kennedy. She is survived by her son Michael Martin Delaney his wife Pauline, her daughter Margaret Ann McGrady and her daughter-in-law Noreen Delaney Hildreth. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren Michael, William, and Daniel Delaney, John McGrady, Katelyn Hamilton and Jean McGrady, as well as her twelve treasured great grandchildren Jack, Colin, Rory, Ryan, Molly, Liam, Billy, Bella, Dillon, Nora, Luke, and Delaney. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Maria DeRosa, Joseph Mancini and the C-2 staff for their wonderful, professional and compassionate care of Jean over the years. Jean loved them as much as they loved her. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church at 10:00am The burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.
