Jean E. Maxwell, 86, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. She was the daughter of the late George and Blendena (Thompson) Maxwell. Jean was a life-long resident of West Springfield and loved to tell stories of the family history there. She worked for the US Envelope Company and later spent 40 years as a proofreader at the Springfield Newspaper. She retired in 1994 and volunteered at the West Springfield Senior Center where she was honored for her volunteer efforts in 2009. Jean spent the last three years as a resident of Wingate of West Springfield. She was predeceased by her sisters, Phyllis Scannell formerly of West Springfield who died in 1989, and her twin sister, Jane Oleksak formerly of Holyoke and Easthampton who died in 2009. Jean leaves several nieces and nephews, Betty Korostynski of West Springfield; Sherry Moriarty of Westfield; Richard Oleksak and his wife Meg of Easthampton; Nancy Groothousen and her husband Joe of Ladysmith, WI; and Jeffrey Scannell of West Springfield. The funeral will Tuesday at 10am at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Meeting House Hill Cemetery.
