Obituary

Jean P. (D'Orazio) Robinson

1937 – 2020

On September 30, Jean P. Robinson, 83, died at home, surrounded by four generations of family. Jean was born in Springfield to the late Tony and Margaret (Mastroianni) D'Orazio and, after graduating from West Springfield High School, worked in the office of American Bosch. Her beloved husband of fifty-five years, Stewart P. Robinson, passed away in 2010. A dedicated volunteer, Jean was the longtime Treasurer of West Springfield's Chapter of UNICO National, an Italian-American service organization. She taught her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to value "service above self," which is UNICO's motto and echoes her Catholic values. Whether she was serving chicken dinners at the town's Fourth of July barbeque, organizing reunions for the Class of 1955, or baking birthday cakes for families living at the Ronald McDonald House, Jean was happiest when helping others. Predeceased by her younger brother Michael D'Orazio, Jean leaves behind her two sisters Antoinette Maccarini and her husband Bob and Patricia Haluch; her brother Anthony D'Orazio; her children Steven P. Robinson and his wife Anita Megas, Leonard J. Robinson and his partner Cindy Fetterhoff, Anne Marie Robinson, Cathy Babiec and her husband Daniel. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Erica and Eric Kelley, Sarah and Joe Currier, Gregory Babiec and Ashley Smith, Michelle and Greg Forfa, Nichole LeFebvre and Michael Dhyne, and Paul LeFebvre; and seven great-grandchildren: Parker and Paige Kelley, Zoey and Ava Forfa, Naomi and Colton Currier, and Avril Babiec, who all love and miss their Nonnie. Calling hours are Sunday, October 4 from 4-7pm at West Springfield's Curran-Jones Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass on Monday, October 5 at 10am at St. Thomas Church, followed by her burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Springfield or Shriner's Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104. The family wants to thank Beacon Hospice for their thoughtful care.
