Obituary

Joan M. (Paulin) Charpentier-Sankey, 66, died March 17 at home in Palm Coast, Florida surrounded by her family. She was born in Pottsville, PA, daughter of the late George and Mary (Lutza) Paulin. After high school, Joan worked at Texon Inc. in South Hadley for five years as a secretary before taking a break to be a homemaker for several years. She later resumed working as a sales associate for Kmart and Sears for approximately 25 years. Joan loved animals, warm weather, traveling, motorcycles rides, cruises and especially being spontaneous. She was a member of the Hampden Pond Women's Club and a member of the St. Michael's Bazentine Catholic Church since childhood until it closed. She moved to Florida in 2001. She leaves her husband of 10 years Harold Sankey, two sons Nathan and Raymond Duda of Bondsville, her daughter Amanda Hanford and her husband Nathan of Moodus, CT, her brother George "Robert" Paulin and his wife Linda of Belchertown, her sister Barbara Stevens and her husband Gary of Marquette, MI, her granddaughter Emily Hanford, two step-children Michelle Garcia and her husband Chris and Stephanie Kindler and her husband Kevin, both of Sussex, WI, her mother-in-law Alice Waypa of Waukesha, WI, five step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Saturday at 9 am from Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home followed by Mass in St. Theresa Church at 10 am. Burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 4-7 pm.
