Joan Molly
Ferguson
August 17, 1939 – November 25, 2021
Joan M. (Posnik) Ferguson, 82, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 25, 2021, surrounded by her family. Born in Springfield to the late Nathan and Millian (Roy) Posnik, she grew up in the Brightwood neighborhood and was a 1957 graduate of Commerce High School. She lived in West Springfield for many years and was a bookkeeper for Casual Corner, Arnold's Meats, and Giant Plumbing Supply. Joan was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, and also a devoted Mother and Grandmother who enjoyed many years spent with the growing families of her two daughters. In addition to time with her grandchildren to include a host of birthdays, holidays, sports games, and numerous trips and events, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to South Florida during the colder months and visiting their many family and friends. Joan was an avid conversationalist at family parties, where she could be relied on to recall any number of details as well as provide one of her much-loved signature desserts: chocolate butterscotch cream pie or lemon bars. She leaves her husband of sixty-four years, Raymond F. Ferguson, two daughters and their husbands, Kim and Michael O'Neil of West Springfield, Keelie J. and James Hebert of South Hadley, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield, followed by burial at St. Thomas Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Take & Eat Ministry, c/o St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield, MA 01089.
