Obituary

Joan Anita (Guyott) Germain, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away quietly with her family by her side on February 28, 2019. She battled cancer and the related complications for over two years with grace and grit. She was 74 years old. Joan was the daughter of late John and Beatrice (Derosier) Guyott. She is survived by her son John Germain and his wife Maia (Gomory) of Hingham, MA; her son Joseph Germain of Needham, MA; her son Jason Germain and his wife Heather (Reghitto) of South Hadley. At mid-life, she met the love of her life and long term partner Frank Renzullo of East Longmeadow. Frank's family became her family. She is also survived by Franco Renzullo of East Longmeadow and Melissa Vozzella of Belchertown. Joan was a loving grandmother to Eric, Nicholas, Jack, Luke, Isabella and Alivia. She was predeceased by her half-sister Claire Mongeau. Born April 26, 1944, she was educated in the South Hadley school system and graduated from South Hadley High School class of 1962. Married to the late Eugene C. Germain in 1966, she raised her family in South Hadley after a brief stint in Holyoke. She held numerous jobs through the years to support her family before finally settling on a career with the Town of South Hadley rising to Assistant Tax Collector. For over 30 years, she loved her work with the Town where she greeted both friends and acquaintances with a warm smile and a sunny disposition. She was also a notary public.
