Carzello
November 16, 1926 – January 18, 2017
John J. Carzello, of West Springfield, passed into eternal life at the age of 90 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home on January 18, 2017. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Fitzgerald) Carzello, and the oldest son of the late Frank and Mary (DeMayo) Carzello. He was born on November 16, 1926, in the Thompsonville section of Enfield CT and lived most of his life in West Springfield, Mass. He served his country honorably with the U.S. Navy from 1944-1951 during World War Two and The Korean War. He worked as a manager for the A & P Company for 46 years. John had a deep love for his large family, spent lots of time walking, volunteered for Immaculate Conception Church for many years, and was also a certified Scuba Diver. John is survived by his four children, John, of Montreal, Quebec; Nancy, of Middlefield, Ma; Dee, of Long Beach, Ca; and Mary, of Holyoke, Ma. His ten grandchildren Valerie, Jesse, Eric, Brian, Jaclyn, Christopher, Molly, Jourdyn, Kelly, and Jace. His four great-grandchildren, Jack, Dustin, Rika, and Maci. John is also survived by his two brothers Gerald Carzello, of Ellington; Joseph Carzello and his wife Anne, of Westfield, Ma. His four sisters Clara Sanborn of West Springfield; Hilda Kaminsky, and her husband Larry, of Enfield; Rosemarie Carzello of Enfield, and Cheryl Lafailk of Enfield; and Katherine DeLorge, and her husband Dennis of Enfield. A sister-in-law, Rita Carzello; A brother-in-law Neil Rodenheizer. His son-in-laws Frank McCarthy, Jay Hurlburt, and daughter-in-law Jackie Piche survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. John is predeceased by three brothers, Michael, Frank, and James Carzello. He is predeceased by his sister Frances Rodenheizer. He is predeceased by four sisters-in-law Rita Robinson, Betty Berger, Joann Carzello,and MaryAnn Carzello; and three brothers-in-law Wayne Sanborn, Donald Robinson, and Robert Berger. The Carzello Family would like to extend a very special thanks to the loving and caring staff of the Holyoke Soldiers Home where John spent the last 6 and a half years of his life. Memorial donations in John's name can be made to the Holyoke Soldiers Home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 am from West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by Mass in St. Thomas Church at 11:30 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow the Mass in the Mass Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 4:00 to 7:00 pm. For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.
