West Springfield-John C. Flanagan Jr., 86, passed away Friday at home. He was born in Holyoke to the late John C. Flanagan Sr. and Mary (Quirk) Flanagan. John lived his entire adult life in West Springfield and was the sole proprietor of the Merrick Drug Store on Main St. in West Springfield. He was an avid supporter of the Red Sox and Patriots and was steadfast in his defense of Tom Brady throughout Deflategate. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Gibbons) Flanagan and their children and grandchildren; Michael, Michele, Emma, Thomas and Will Flanagan of Randolph, NJ, Brian, Meg, Carter and Campbell Flanagan of Charlotte, NC, James, Mary Beth (Flanagan), Julia, James, Alison, and Ian Reddy of Medfield, MA and Charlotte, Andy and Matt Flanagan of West Hartford, CT. He was predeceased by his loving son Jay. He is also survived by his sister Ann Pauly of Reno, NV and Jim Flanagan of Charleroix, MI. He was predeceased by his sister Mary and his brother Kevin. Visiting hours will be from 4:00PM – 7:00PM on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Curran-Jones Funeral Home 109 Main Street, West Springfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00AM on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Sacred Heart 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield.
