John J. Fortsch Jr.
1930 - 2012

SPRINGFIELD - John J. Fortsch, Jr., 82, of Springfield passed away June 14, 2012, in his home. He was a professor and Dean of Administration at STCC. Husband to the late Phyllis (O'Leary) Fortsch, he was the proud father of ten children, and "PopPop" to 21 grandchildren. A former United States Marine, he enjoyed spending time with friends at the American Legion, was an accomplished carpenter, and loved skiing with his children, golfing, and boating. His children will most remember the incredible sacrifices he made for his family and how much he was loved not only by his children and grandchildren but by his friends and extended family who were always welcomed to Saturday night dinners, ski trips in the yellow school bus to Burke Mountain, and to the beautiful shores of Rhode Island in the summer. How blessed we were to have you, how sad we are to see you go, and how very much we love you.
