Granby – John T. Healey, 94, of Granby and Barefoot Bay, FL died peacefully Wednesday morning in the Soldier's Home surrounded by his loving family and caregivers. John was born in Holyoke, grew up in the Flats of Holyoke and the family farm in South Hadley. He attended Holyoke Trade School before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1943. He was stationed in the Atlantic and Pacific theatre on destroyers and escorts during World War II. He started his career as a route salesman for Stateline Potato Chips and retired after 30+years as Regional Sales Manager. H e enjoyed traveling to MA and CA to attend his grandchildren's "milestone events', and the arrival of great grandchildren, especially being with them and their exuberant spirit. His wife of 59 years, Rita (Milton) Healey, died in 2005. He leaves his three daughters; Nancy R. Tessier, Kathleen A. Lane and Rose Marie E. Picard (James); nine grandchildren Joel and Jeremy Tessier, Angela Bourque, Andrea Mace, Allyson Popp, Heather Moffit, Laurel Lenski, Zachary and Kaleb Lane and fourteen great grandchildren. Besides his wife, John was predeceased by a sister Estelle Storozuk and granddaughter Alicia M. Tessier. The funeral will be held at the Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St. South Hadley, Tuesday at 9:00am with Liturgy in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at 10:00am followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. For more details please visit curranobrien.com.
